Funeral services for Mr. Donald Blackard, age 74, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Mer Rouge Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Vollmar officiating. Interment will follow in Mer Rouge Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Blackard, a resident of Bastrop and a retired parts manager at Parker Chevrolet, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Blackard was a member of Mer Rouge Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon. Mr. Blackard is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Lee Blackard and Martha Blackard; and two brothers, W.C. Blackard and Clint Blackard.
Mr. Blackard is survived by his wife, Jean Dawson Blackard; children, Debbie Kay Blackard Nelson and husband Alan W. Nelson, Donald Kent Blackard and wife Paddy Jo Bankston Blackard, Dawson Lee Blackard and wife Darlene Blackard; grandchildren, Adrianne Nelson Reynolds and husband Ryan Reynolds, Kelly Jean Nelson, Patrick Wayne Moore, William Clay Blackard and wife Jessie Dean Blackard, Jacob Cole Blackard, Ross Adam Blackard, Emily Grace Blackard; and great grandchildren, Eli Scott Reynolds, Grant Richard Thomas Blackard, and Emma Kate Reynolds.
Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Moore, Will Blackard, Cole Blackard, Ross Blackard, Ryan Reynolds, and Letha Boudreaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Mer Rouge Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Golden Funeral Home.
