Obituary of Muriel Johnston

Services celebrating the life of Muriel Marie Day Johnston, 87, will be at Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Thursday, August 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Kathy Wafer and Rev. Ken Irby. Interment will follow at the Beekman Cemetery, Bastrop, Louisiana, at 4 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will be in the church parlor from 10 a.m. until service time. Muriel was born on December 18, 1924, and passed away at The Oaks of Louisiana on Sunday, August 26, 2012. She was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Shreveport for the past 12 years. She was a retired homemaker. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Johnston; her parents, Luther and Mary Day; four siblings; son-in-law, John F. Langston; and great-granddaughter, Cameron Marie Langston. She is survived by her daughter, Bunny Langston; son, Bill Johnston and wife Mary; sister, Kathryn (Dooley) Lilly; grandchildren, Will Langston and wife Kelly, Lauren Willcox and husband Chris; Great- grandchildren, Ellie and Grace Willcox, John Anthony and Aeden Langston; step-grandchildren, Christie Jagot, Michelle Caldwell, Dillon Wright and wife, Tiffany, Lane Greer; step-great-grandsons, Nathan Jagot, Dixon Wright; step great-granddaughter, Brynlee Van Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. Honoring Muriel as pallbearers will be Will Langston, Greg Doyal, Patrick Doyal, Curtis Turner, Bill Marshall, and T. Wes Moore. Honorary pallbearer is Chris Willcox. Mama loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart. She was a faithful servant in the Bastrop United Methodist Church before she and Daddy moved to Shreveport. Thank you, Mama and Daddy, for the example you set for all of us to follow. Rejoice in the presence of God, thy good and faithful servant.
