Funeral services for Mr. Boyd Rex Green, age 88, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Mollie McGee officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Green died September 5, 2012 in the Oak Woods Home in Mer Rouge.
He was born June 22, 1924 in Marion, LA. He was a member of the Mer Rouge United Methodist Church and the Mer Rouge Lions Club. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Barak Shriners. Following his service in the US Navy during WWII, he was a business owner in Mer Rouge for many years and retired from the LA Dept. of Agriculture.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby G. Green, his brother and sister in law, Talmadge and Ann R. Green.
Survivors are daughters and son in law: Sara G. Bonsall, and Dona and Daniel Harris. He is also survived by his uncle, John D. Green and wife's siblings: Jean Brown, Nellie Jo Williams, Betty Davidson, Charles and Jane Jennings, and Sue and James Shamblin. He was also blessed to have many nieces and nephews including Brenda and Gene Bates and Randy and Becky Green.
Honorary pallbearers are Richard Blackwell, William Davenport, Marley Oldham, Thomas Rankin, G.L. Shepard, C. Gil White, Jr., and members of the Mer Rouge Lions Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to TWIGS of Oak Woods or Mer Rouge United Methodist Church.
