Obituary of Jr. Eckles

Graveside services for Mr. George Edward Eckles, Jr., age 76, of Mer Rouge, LA are scheduled for 10 AM Thursday, September 13, 2012, at the Mer Rouge Cemetery with the Reverend Mollie McGhee officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 8 PM Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Eckles, a retired farmer, was a U.S. Marine and a member of the Mer Rouge United Methodist Church. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Barbara Ann Pate for her kindness in caring for Mr. Eckles during his recent illness. Mr. Eckles is survived by his sons, George Edward Eckles III and wife Beth of Mer Rouge, LA and James Devereaux Eckles and wife Joni of Mer Rouge, LA; his sister, Nancy Barton of Monroe, LA; his granddaughters, Laine Eckles of New Orleans, LA and Amber Venable of Beekman, LA; and several nephews. Mr. Eckles is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley H. Eckles; and his parents, George E. Eckles, Sr. and Gursta H. Eckles. Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Erle Clark, Nolan Clark, William Hayden, Billy Womack, Joe Dye, and Lee Hammons.
