Obituary of Alice Buffington Kennedy

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Buffington Kennedy, 69, of Mer Rouge, LA are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2007 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Revs. Chad Ballard and Royce Christmas officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Baptist Cemetery. Mrs. Kennedy, a retired LPN, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Morehouse General Hospital. She was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and a Past Matron in the Eastern Star, Sunny South Chapter #12. She is survived by her husband, Mack Carter Kennedy; two daughters, Grace Sanders of Goodwill, LA, Alison Akers and husband Stefan of Brenham, TX; two sons, Rem Kennedy and wife Lucille of Bastrop, LA, Vance Kennedy and wife Susie of Bastrop, LA; sister, Sharon Kinney of Lafayette, LA; three brothers, Allen Buffington, Guy Buffington and J.B. Buffington all of Shreveport, LA; twelve grandchildren, Lindsay Paige Kennedy, Casey Amanda Sanders, Jody Alan Sanders, Kaitlin Renee Sanders, Carter Kennedy Akers, Clark Martin Akers, Jordan Vance Kennedy, Sherri Anne Ingram, Charlene Murphy, Mae Frances Lynchard, Justin Dewayne Martin, James Michael Martin and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Kennedy is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Gracie Nugent Buffington; sister, Alene Dowden Hughes; brothers, Thurel, S.L., Rudolph, Charles, Marvin and Emmett Buffington. Serving as pallbearers are: Justin Martin, Michael Martin, Jody Sanders, Carter Akers, Clark Akers and Robert Younger. Honorary pallbearers are: Jordan Kennedy, Robert Lyons M.D., Father Whit Stodgill, Rev. Britt Dupree and Laverene Johnson. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at Golden Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport, LA.
