Funeral services for John "J.D." Ezell, Jr., age 65, of Bastrop, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday June 4, 2004, at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Walter Hickman and Bro. Bob Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visiation will be held Thursday at Goldens from 5-9 p.m. Mr. Ezell was retired from International Paper Co. with 42 years of service. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was the founder and vice-president of the Morehouse Fox Hunters Association and a honorary member of the Timberland Hunting Club. Mr. Ezell died Wednesday June 2, 2004, at Morehouse General Hospital. Mr. Ezell is survived by his wife, Marie Ezell; step-mother, Katherine Ezell of Gilbert; two daughters, Kathy Chambers & husband Doug of Bastrop and Donna McKee & husband Steve of Bastrop; son, Bo Ezell & wife Lori of Bastrop; four sisters, Dorothy White, Pat Swilley of Natchez, MS, Betty Lewis & husband Ken of Madison, MS, and Katie Smith & husband Sid of Jena; brother, Pete Ezell & wife Mellisa of Baskin; six grandchildren, Casey Chowns, Tassi McKee, Steven Mckee, Erin Ezell, Jessica Scarborough and Kim Ezell; canine companion, Patches. Mr. Ezell is preceded in death by his parents, John Dewitt Ezell, Sr. and Agnes Karney; and a brother, George Ables. Pallbearers will be Doug Chambers, Steve McKee, Steven B. McKee, Rusty Cox, David Cooke, Troy Hall, Ralph Holland, Craig Evans, Howard Hughes, and Mark Hightower. Honorary Pallbearers will be Floyd Scarborough and Spencer Chowns.
