Obituary of Mrs. Joann Temple Slade

Funeral services for Mrs. Joann Temple Slade, age 67, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday July 13, 2005 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Townsend, Rev. Lloyd Townsend and Rev. Mildred Lenard officiating. Burial will follow in Start Cemetery. Mrs. Slade, passed away Sunday July 10, 2005 at Glenwood Medical Center after a short illness. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Slade was a beloved wife and devoted mother. She was a resident of Bastrop and a member of Zachary Baptist Church in Jones, where her husband is pastor. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elijah Benjamin "Benny" Temple and Eugenia "Jenny" Russell Temple; brothers, E.B. Temple, Bill Temple, Arnold Temple, Joel L. Temple, and Baby Boy Temple; and a sister, Irma Carons Temple. Mrs. Slade is survived by her husband, Rev. John Ephrom "Junior" Slade, II of Bastrop; two daughters, Cathy Jo Lewis & husband Ricky of West Monroe, Carol Redden & husband Harvey of Bastrop; two sons, John Ephrom Slade III & wife Sherry of Bastrop, Steven Lamar Slade of Delhi; three sisters, Shirley Temple Neal of West Monroe, Rose Temple Streeter of West Monroe, Loretta Odom & husband Randy of Start; four brothers, J.B. Temple & wife Lois of Vidalia, Wade Temple & wife Bessie of Start, Houston Temple & wife Sue of Farmerville, Jimmy Temple of Vidalia; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Greg Temple, Kenny Temple, Jeff Streeter, David Temple, Randy Odom, and Randy Temple. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Lewis, Harvey W. Redden, Jr., Joseph Redden, Jacob Slade, and Rodney Temple.
