Obituary of John P. Duke

Funeral services for Mr. John P. Duke, age 80, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Duke, a resident of Monroe, passed away from heart failure on Sunday, September 30, 2012. He was a retired contractor. Mr. Duke was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Margaret Duke; four brothers, Cecil Duke, Robert Duke, Bilbo Duke, Dickie Duke; and two sisters, Sissy Duke and Maxine Duke. Mr. Duke is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patsy R. Duke; two sons, John Gregory Duke of Monroe, LA, Michael A. Duke and wife Juanita of Ruston, LA; daughter, Diana Duke Allen and husband Daryl of Birmingham, AL; sister, Tanny Gentry of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, Jacob Ivan Duke, Ryan Michael Duke, Sarah E. Allen, and Abby Marguerite Allen. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Parker, T.J. Parker, G.W. Smith, David Teher, Ed Eubank, and Glen Harper.
