Obituary of Celestine Tharp Middlebrooks

Funeral services for Celestine Tharp Middlebrooks, age 85, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Pine Grove Church of God with Rev. Bobby O'Fallon, Rev. John Peters, and Cliff Spikes officiating. Interment will follow in Stevenson Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 p.m. until service time Saturday at Pine Grove Church of God. Mrs. Middlebrooks, a homemaker and a resident of Bastrop, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at St. Francis North Hospital. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, quilting, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Pine Grove Church of God. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Middlebrooks; parents, Norman & Ethel Harper; father, Cal Tharp; sister, Katie Belle Spikes; brothers, Gus Tharp, Tom Tharp, Dave Tharp; grandson, Franklin "Tootie" Reynolds; and five great grandchildren. She is survived by five daughters, Ethel Johnson & husband Kenneth of Bastrop, Mildred White & husband Larry of Jones, Carol Harris of Crossett, AR, Jean Griffin & husband Kenny of Farmerville, Clara Belle Wallace & husband Raymond of Bastrop; one son, John Middlebrooks of Bastrop; brother, Bill Tharp of Bastrop; twenty-one grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Wallace, Timmy Wallace, Joe Reynolds, Allen Reynolds, Mickey Fox, Scotty Fox, Charlie "Boog" Harris, and Mitch Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Dean Kinney, Keith Fox, Jody Harris, Kirt Harris, and Bo Smith.
