Obituary of Helen Norma Boone Matheny

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Norma Boone Matheny, 88, of West Monroe, LA, formerly of Jones and Bastrop, LA, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home of Bastrop, with Rev. Charles Dupree, Rev. Jimmy Yocum, and Rev. Earl Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop. Mrs. Matheny passed away Friday, December 21, 2007. She was a member of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe. She taught Sunday School for many years while a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Jones, and Westside Baptist Church in Bastrop. She was a housewife and mother of four children. She loved to cook and garden. She is preceded in death by her husband, Norman Matheny; parents, Roy & Myrtle Boone; sister, Volene Slocum; and daughter, Norma Matheny Morgan. She is survived by three children, Gary Matheny & wife Bonnie of Huntsville, AL, Royce Matheny & wife Evelyn of Monroe, LA, Debbie Matheny Ward & husband Billy of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Chuck Matheny, Chad Matheny, Greg Matheny, Megan Matheny, Mitty Morgan, Angie Potts, Amber White, Mathew Ward; and twelve great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Chuck Matheny, Chad Matheny, Greg Matheny, Mitty Morgan, Mathew Ward, Jimmy Potts, and Jeremy White. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Avery, Robert Craig, Odell Johnson, David Boone, and Chris McKoin. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 23, 2007 from 12 noon until 2:30 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home, Bastrop. Memorial contributions may be made to New Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
