Obituary of Richard Earl Carter

Funeral services for Richard Earl Carter, age 49, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Hawthorne officiating and Walter Ray Wallace presenting a memorial tribute. Interment will follow in New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Winnsboro, LA. Visitation will be held Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Richard was born February 2, 1961 in Winnsboro, LA. He attended school at Riser and West Monroe High School. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, quick wit, and his zest for life. He loved his family, friends, and the Lord. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, firearms, and collecting Native American artifacts. Richard was a resident of Bastrop and was employed as a construction worker. He is preceded in death by his father, Reuben Earl Carter, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carter, Sr. of Winnsboro, LA and Ms. Anna L. Swayze of Bastrop, LA. Richard is survived by his mother, Barbara Ann Carter of Bastrop, LA; son, Richard Chase Carter of West Monroe, LA; sister, Carla Ann Frost of West Monroe, LA; niece, Chelsea Jean Frost of West Monroe, LA; other close family members and a host of friends who loved and supported Richard with his lengthy illness with cancer. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of Hospice Compassus for their excellent care and compassion during the last few months of his illness and to all his special friends for their faithful love, loyalty and care. Serving as pallbearers will be David Anderson, Gerard Conor, Tim Barfield, Rodney Posey, Scott Spurlock, Brian Fontenot, and Fordie Cook. Honorary pallbearers are Tim Musgrove, Mario Ragusa, Billy Wayne Hickman, Bobby Jennings, and Caleb Lucas. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made directly to the Richard E. Carter Benefit Fund at OIB.
