Obituary of Charles Douglas "Doug" Smith

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Douglas "Doug" Smith, 45, of West Monroe, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Revs. Britt Dupree and Phillip McCready officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinegrove South Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Smith, a self employed contractor and member of Harmony Baptist Church passed away Monday, December 31, 2007 at his residence. He was an avid car racer at Twin City Drag. He is survived by his daughter, Whitney Nicole Smith of Star City, AR; father and step-mother, Tommy and Barbara Smith of Bastrop, LA; mother and step-father, Gloria and Keith Thurman of Lacey, AR; two sisters, Nita Gandy and husband Robbie of Bastrop, LA, Lisa Thompson of Bastrop, LA; brother, David Smith and wife Martha of Farmington, AR and a special friend, Pam Hearne of West Monroe, LA. Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his grandparents, Oather and Margie Smith and George and Dovie Gregory. Serving as pallbearers are: Don Harger, Jay Smith, Brian Henry, Ed Haltom, Kenneth Robinson and Steve Dew.
