Funeral services for Charles D. Patrick,Sr., 77, of Bastrop will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 13,2004 at White Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff May and Rev. Herbert Whitten officiating. Interment will follow in the Christ Church Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, June 12,2004 at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Patrick died Wednesday at University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born on June 2,1927 in D'Lo, Mississippi to Mamie and Carl Patrick. He was retired from I.M.C. in Sterlington,La. where he was employed for 39 years. While employed with I.M.C. he served as President of the OCAW Local 4-786 Union from 1969 to 1992. Mr. Patrick was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Pacific theatre during World War II. He was a member of the Bastrop City Council from 1965 to 1969 and he was one of the founders of the Bastrop Boy's Club and was actively involved with the boxing program there for many years. Mr.Patrick was a longtime and faithful member of White Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Helen Shepherd Patrick; one son, Charles D. Patrick,Jr. and wife Karen of Bastrop; two daughters, Patty Scotto and husband Vince of Wrightstown, New Jersey and Cheryl Shaw and husband Joel of North Falmouth, Masssachusetts; one brother, R.W. Patrick and wife Clara of Bastrop; five grandchildren, Patrick and Elizabeth Scotto, Alexandra and Sydney Shaw, and Reagan Patrick and many adored nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie and Carl Patrick and sisters, Lucille Lewis, Emma Lewis, Patsy Reynolds, and Bobbie Tisdale. Pallbearers will be nephews Tommy Lewis, BennyMac Lewis, Preston Reynolds, Douglas Tisdale, Carl Patrick, Barry Patrick and great nephew Corey Word. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
