Services celebrating the life of Mrs. Margie McDougle Ray (Mrs. Charlie Ray), will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2005 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Royce Christmas officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Patrick Cemetery, Bernice, LA.
Mrs. Ray was born December 13, 1919 in Union Parish, the first born of three children born to Cumy McDougle Moncrief and Wheeler McDougle.
She left St. Francis Hospital, Monroe, LA to be with her Lord on August 24, 2005.
She was a charter member of Marrable Hill Chapel Church, ElDorado, AR. Mrs. Ray, her husband and two daughters moved to Bastrop in 1951. She has been an active member of Greenacres Baptist Church fifty plus years. She was a retired ombudsman worker with the Morehouse Council on Aging. Some of her many loves were sewing, crocheting and tending her flowers, but above all elese, her life was devoted to her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Charlie of 68 years; two daughters, Christine R. Jennings and husband Billy of Cotton Valley, LA, Margene R. Watters and husband Larche of Benton, LA; brother, Homer McDougle of Bastrop, LA; five grandchildren, Cynthia Johnston and husband Roy D. of Benton, LA, Sandra Delafield of Serepta, LA, Ronda Taylor and husband Kevin of Springhill, LA, Dianne Blake and husband Robert of Springhill, LA, David Watters of Benton, LA; eight great grandchildren, Nick Johnston of Dallas, TX, Stephanie Johnston of Benton, LA, Christopher Delafield of Serepta, LA, Mitchell Delafield of Serepta, LA, Brittany Taylor of Springhill, LA, Matthew Taylor of Springhill, LA, Justin Holloway and wife Kristy of Haughton, LA, Jon Holloway of Springhill, LA; and her loving caregivers, Caren Walker, Sheila Coburn and Elaine Johnson.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandson and great grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lavelle Vining and Deacons of Greenacres Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, 2005 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
