Obituary of William Spencer Rosson

William Spencer Rosson, age 96, of Bastrop, LA, passed away November 11, 2012. He was born May 23, 1916 at White, AR, a son of the late James Roberto and Fannie Edith Freeland Rosson. Mr. Rosson served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant from 1943 to 1945. He served in World War II and re-enlisted in the Army Reserve Corps from 1948 to 1952. He was a dedicated employee for International Paper Mill of Bastrop for 30 years. He was a member of Meridian Baptist Church in White, AR for a number of years. Later Mr. Rosson became a member of Victory Tabernacle Church in Bastrop, LA. Mr. Rosson loved music, he played guitar and sang with different groups that traveled across Louisiana up to Nashville, TN. They had radio time for many years as well. Mr. Rosson loved to cook and bake for his friends. He loved his small family and host of friends. He believed that a mans word was his bond, and he was always willing to help other people. He was preceded in death by one brother, Wilbur Andrew Rosson; and very special aunt that helped raise him, Sally Blackwell. Mr. Rosson is survived by one niece, Minnie Leona and husband Wayne Middlebrooks of Bastrop; one great niece, Mary O'Neal and husband Michael of Bastrop; one great great nephew, Gregory J. and wife Brandi Griswould; one step-great great nephew, Caleb M. O'Neal who is teaching in China. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Golden Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday at Meridian Baptist Church of White, AR, with Rev. Willie Lambert, Rev. Kevin Sanders, and Rev. Kevin McDaniel officiating. A military graveside service will follow in Lick Prairie Cemetery in White, AR under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Dr. Allen Spires and a special thank you to Premier Hospice for their love and care giving. We love each one of you Cindy, Mary, Rene, and Kisha. May God continue to bless each one of you. Serving as pallbearers will be, Herman White, Michael Hinton, Gregory Griswould, Danny Jordan, Billy Bolton, and Billy Bolton II. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Lambert and Jewles Lambert
