Ruby Phillips Freeland Knight Allen died on January 16, 2008 at Oak Woods Home for the Elderly in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. A longtime resident of Bastrop, Mrs. Allen is survived by her son, John Michael Freeland and his wife Patricia of Houston, Texas; her daughter, Margaret Moore and her husband Walter of Bastrop; two granddaughters, Pamela Carleton Smith and husband Brent of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Mary Catherine Eckdahl and husband Michael of Little Rock, Arkansas; and six great grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held by the family. Special gratitude is extended to her many devoted friends and the caring and personal attention of the professional staff at Oak Woods. Golden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
