A memorial service for Mr. Homer McDougle, Sr., age 86, of Bastrop, LA will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Dr. Thomas Reinowski officiating.
Mr. McDougle passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Monroe.
He was retired from Texas Gas Company and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII having served in the 11th Airborne Division "Geronimo". He also was a former deacon at First Presbyterian Church, past President of the Bastrop Moose Lodge, Vice President of the Gas Worker's Union at Texas Gas and a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his son, Homer McDougle, Jr. and wife Anita of Anacoco, LA; daughter, Rosie Aline Waltman of Bastrop, LA; six grandchildren, Nathan McDougle, Sherry Charrier, Darla Brady, James Graves, Tony Jones, James E. Jones, Jr.; eight great grandchildren, Tiffany Barr, Angie Robinson, Daniel Ewers, Stevie Ewers, Dylan Ewers, James C. Jones, Hunter Starnes, Cheyenne Carpenter; three great great grandchildren, Chasity Barr, Chase Barr and Anthony Ewers.
Mr. McDougle is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Grobe McDougle; two sisters, Margie Ray, Marilee Ray; son in-law, Dennis Waltman and two great grandsons, Nelson Blood and Austin Graves.
The family request in lieu of flowers that memorials be sent to the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home or to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
