Obituary of George A. Delamar

Funeral services for Mr. George A. Delamar, age 72, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Faith Baptist Church with Revs. Paul Carter and Rubin Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Faith Baptist Church. Mr. Delamar, owner of Silver Spur and a retired supervisor from International Paper Company was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Faith Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a military police officer in Chitose, Japan. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed his horses, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Eddie Myree` Delamar; two daughters, Cheryl Delamar Smith and husband Kelly of Bastrop, LA, Debbie Delamar Lester and husband Gerald of Bastrop, LA; two sisters, Sue Cote and husband Mike of Bastrop, LA, Ann Childers and husband Thomas of Crossett, AR; brother, Gary Delamar and wife Floye of Baton Rouge, LA; three grandchildren, Ashley Lester Bankston and husband Jason of Bastrop, LA, Jessica Lester Stewart and husband Jordon of Bastrop, LA, Cody Delamar Smith of Bastrop, LA; two great grandchildren, Jackson Lee Stewart and Olivia Kaye` Bankston and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Delamar is preceded in death by his parents, C.W. and Jessie Delamar and a brother, Billy Mack Delamar.
Serving as pallbearers are: Gerald W. Lester, Kelly G. Smith, Cody D. Smith, Jason A. Bankston, Jordon L. Stewart, Michael W. Cote, Tab A. Childers, Billy M. Delamar, Robert L. Carter and Jackson L. Stewart.
Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Faith Baptist Church.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Joe Files, Dr. Carter Cox, nurses of 2nd floor and lab techs at Morehouse General Hospital and Premier Hospice.
