Funeral services for Mr. E.F. "Pappy" Cook, age 87, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday September 6, 2005 at Paron Baptist Church in Spencer with Rev. Kurt Auger and Rev. Terry Ganey officiating. Burial will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Golden Funeral Home of Bastrop. Mr. Cook passed away September 3, 2005 at Avalon Nursing Facility. Visitation will be held Monday Sept. 5, 2005 from 5-9 p.m. at Paron Baptist Church.
Mr. Cook was a retired employee of I.M.C. Chemical. He was a member and deacon of Paron Baptist Church for over 50 years. He will be rememebered for his involvement in the dirt track racing circuit and a love of fishing for catfish.
He is survived by a son, Freddie Cook & wife Pat of Monroe; two sisters, Dathel Cope and Jackye Thrower, both of Salina, KS; daughter in law, Millie Thomas; four grandchildren, Terri Smith & husband Ronny, Rhodney Cook & wife Carol, Shane Cook, and Shelly Lowrey; and eight great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Emma Ruth "Nump" Cook and a son, Joe Mike Cook.
Pallbearers will be Burl McGee, Jerry Hobson, Gary Tubbs, Ricky Bowen, Vicky Joe Wisecarver, Johnny McDonald, J.M. Roberson, and Ronnie Jones.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Paron Baptist Church Hurricane Relief Fund.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Avalon Nursing Facility employees and residents, Dr. Kerry Anders, and the Paron Baptist Church family.
