A memorial service for Mrs. Nell Carta Lashbrook, age 78, of Mer Rouge will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Rev. Chad Ballard, Rev. Alan Miller and Mr. Jerry Spears officiating.
Mrs. Lashbrook, a resident of Mer Rouge, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Lashbrook was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and worked as state editor at News-Star Morning World in Monroe, business editor for the Abilene Reporter News in Abilene, Texas and for the Austin Texas Independent School District in the public relations department. She also owned and operated Nell's Flowers and Gifts in Rayville, LA and served as Secretary of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Rayville until retirement in 2004. She loved animals and painting.
Mrs. Lashbrook is preceded in death by her husband Ralph T. Lashbrook; parents, Johnnie and Irene Carta; and two sisters, Rosemary Danuser and Stella Bradford.
Mrs. Lashbrook is survived by one daughter, Vicki Howes and husband Ted of Mer Rouge; one son, Philip Lee and wife Kaye of Pearl, MS; one sister, Elaine Spears of Caledonia, MS; one brother, Ron Carta of San Antonio, TX; three grand children, Jason Howes and wife Krys of Mer Rouge, Corey Lee of Pearl, MS, Chad Lee and wife Michelle, of Oakland, TN; and three great grandchildren, Cody Howes, Jared Lee and Jace Lee.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at Golden Funeral Home.
