Obituary of Zachary D. Pickett

Mr. Z.D. Pickett, age 96, passed away Friday, January 25, 2008. He was born April 14, 1911 in Bastrop, and lived here in Third Ward until 1994 at which time he moved to Shreveport to be close to his children. He was employed by International Paper Company for 37 years and was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ in Shreveport and previously the Central Church of Christ in Bastrop. Visitation for Mr. Pickett will be held Sunday, January 27, 2008 from 3 - 6 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home, and funeral services will be held at Central Church of Christ in Bastrop at 2 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2008. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Marvin and Emma Eubanks Pickett; four brothers and four sisters. Surviving him are his wife of 67 years, Irma Marsh Pickett; four daughters, Eugenia and husband Clint Hockett of Beebe, AR, Jeaniece and husband Don Chapman of Gloster, LA, Leila Joy Pickett of Bossier City, LA, and Norma Timmerman of Shreveport, LA; four grandchildren, Jill Bialas Milner and husband Marty of Shreveport, LA, Suzy and husband Tony Moreno, Darrell Timmerman and Rebecca Dalton, all of Shreveport, LA; eight great grandchildren, Martin and Miranda Milner, Brandon and Adam Moreno, Tara Kirk, Jonathon, Nicholas, and Andrew Dalton; and one great great grandchild, Alyssa Moreno; one sister, Byrona Martin of Midlothian, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be Jonathon Dalton, Nicholas Dalton, Adam Moreno, Jimmy Carter, Chris Carter, and John Paul Carter. Honorary pallbearers are Clint Hockett, Don Chapman, Marty Milner, Brandon Moreno, and Tony Moreno.
