Funeral services for Mrs. Ola Mae Cox Hodge, age 87, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Kurt Auger and Bro. Bubba Hoggatt officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park, Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop, LA.
Mrs. Hodge, a resident of Sterlington, LA, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012. She and her husband owned and operated Western Auto in Sterlington for many years. She retired as a bookkeeper from Sterlington Auto Parts. She was a member of Paron Baptist Church. Mrs. Hodge will be remembered as being a Christian, extremely sweet and generous, an excellent cook, kind, caring, soft-spoken, a true southern lady, and a loyal LSU and Saints football fan. Everyone looked forward to Sunday dinner at Grandma's house.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe L. "Boots" Hodge; parents, John K. and Ada Cox; brothers, Johnny Cox, Eugene Cox, Raymond Cox, Herman Cox; sisters, Lucille Riels, Maggie Carter; and great granddaughter, Tinsley Matte.
Mrs. Hodge is survived by her children, Melda Brantley and husband Lanny of Monroe, LA, Joe Hodge and wife Gale of Sterlington, LA, Kathy Matte and husband Bruce of Marion, LA, Becky Hodge of Sterlington, LA, Reta Womble and husband Buddy of Sterlington, LA; grandchildren, Jody Brantley and wife Rena, Shana Sutton and husband Mark, Nathan Brantley and Michael Landers, Tracey Wells and husband Ryan, B.J. Matte and wife Rebecca, Brad Matte and wife Crystal, Heather Chavez and husband Monte, Justin Hodge and wife Lauren, Whitney Hodge and fiance Jason Greer, Jessica Turner and husband Brett, Derek Womble; sister, Barbara Cox and husband Barney; sisters-in-law, Myrine Haacks, Monie Faye Cox, Vera Cox; brothers, Lawrence Cox, Donald Cox and wife Hazel; brother-in-law, Jimmy Hodge; 22 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to Dr. Carter Cox, Teresa Norman, and Nelwyn Knighten for the special care they gave to Mrs. Hodge.
