Obituary of Jewel Eleanor "Granny" Stephenson

Funeral services for Mrs. Jewel Eleanor "Granny" Stephenson, age 87, a resident of Lagniappe Health Care Center, formerly of Eudora, AR, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012 at New Hope Baptist Church (Highway 8, Eudora, AR) with Rev. Sanders Brooks and Rev. Jimmy Yocum officiating. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery (Eudora). Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 12 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home and prior to service at New Hope Baptist Church. Mrs. Stephenson, a retired employee of over 30 years with Eudora Garment Factory and member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Lagniappe Health Care. "Granny" was a big sports fan, who enjoyed rooting for her favorite teams: the Arkansas Razorbacks, LSU, New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Braves. She is survived by two daughters, Diane Van and husband Wayne Van, Sr. of Monroe, LA, Mary Lou Herring and husband Roger of Bastrop, LA; sister, Yvonne Toni Anderson and husband Dave of Pine Bluff, AR; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin C. Stephenson; sons, Jimmy and Tommy Stephenson; brothers, Carl, Mack and Tim Welch and parents, August and Lille Welch. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons. Serving as honorary pallbearer is Frank Emenhiser. The family request that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
