Please share a memory of Jr. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Edgar L. "Bud" Harrison, Jr., age 63 and a resident of Bastrop, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Christ Church Cemetery, with his pastor, Rev. Mark Benge officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Bud was born October 25, 1944 in Bastrop, LA, grew up in Monroe, and graduated from Neville High School in 1962. After completing his military service with the U.S. Army and a brief residence in Florida, he returned to Monroe and began work in 1976 with his good friend, Jimmy Moeller of Bastrop where he worked as General Manager of Moeller's, Inc. In 1994, he moved to Bastrop and remained a resident there until his death on Saturday, February 2, 2008. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bastrop. Bud loved the outdoors as well as people. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved fishing and duck and bird hunting with family and special friends. He also enjoyed spending hours grilling or frying outdoors, sharing stories and laughter with his companions as he prepared his special recipes...that were always superbly delicious! He also found great joy and companionship farming pecans and peaches, with his long-time friend, Mike Mason. Bud loved to travel, both near and far, whether seeing the countryside on the way to his camp or to exciting destinations in resort cities. He enjoyed playing cards and was an avid sports fan, especially for LSU football. Bud was generous to many and compassionate to all. Bud had a kind faith and forgiving spirit that uplifted both family and friends. He had a special love that was genuinely and lavishly expressed for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Carolyn Lee Harrison; one daughter, Jeannie Brock and husband Major Stephen Brock of Springfield, VA; three sons, Gary Harrison of Bastrop; Rev. John Leach and wife Chris of Highlands Ranch, CO, Steve Leach and wife Faith of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandchildren, Jennifer, Taylor, and Patrick Brock, Brent, Katie, David and Daniel Leach, Aimee Leach Piller and husband Marcus, Brittany and Kyle Leach; and great grandchildren, Isabelle and Evie Piller. He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar L. "Buddy" Harrison; and is survived by his mother, Dorothy W. Harrison of Monroe; one sister, Judy Foret and husband Delvin of Houma, LA; one brother, Bill Harrison and wife Brenda of Monroe; his closest friend and cousin, David Harrison of Hot Springs, AR; and many loved aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and their spouses. Bud will be missed by all who knew and loved him, yet will be remembered by the legacy of his love for family and friends and for his joy of living that was exhibited in all he did. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
