Obituary of Elaine Cockrell White

Funeral services for Mrs. Elaine Cockrell White, age 65, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008, at Central Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Britt Dupree and Rev. Thad Douglas officiating. The graveside committal service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Promise Land Cemetery near Hamburg, AR. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. White, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Morehouse General Hospital. She was a retired employee of the State of Louisiana. She was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church. She had served as a pianist and organist for the church since 1965. Through the years, she had been the church secretary, Sunday school teacher, active with vacation bible school, youth ministry, and the church library. Elaine, her husband Darrell, and their family, have served the Lord, the church, and the community countless times for funerals, weddings, and church services. She is preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Lillian Cockrell. She is survived by her husband, Darrell G. White; three children, Brian E. White of Wetumpka, AL, Carrie Kindrix & husband Steve of Bastrop, Jimmy D. White & wife Mendy of Calhoun; eight grandchildren, Shannon White, Dalton White, Philip White, Mark Kindrix, Blake Kindrix, Kristin Kindrix, Zach White, Noah White; two great grandchildren, Danielle Kindrix, Giana White; two sisters, Barbara Lynch & husband Jerry of West Monroe, Linda Sue Harkness & husband William of Kingwood, TX; two brothers, Ronald Cockrell & wife Helen of Bellevue, IL, Harold Cockrell & wife Linda of Bastrop; and several nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws. Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Kindrix, Zach White, Steve Kindrix, Tab Coleman, Ed White, and Jimmy White. Memorial contributions may be made to the Library Fund at Central Missionary Baptist Church.
