Obituary of Gene "Sonny" Robinson

Funeral services for Mr. Gene "Sonny" Robinson, age 80, of Bastrop, LA, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Revs. Bobby Porter and Tim Post officiating. Interment will follow in Hughes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Robinson passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center. He was a retired employee of International Paper Company's Woodland Department, a logger and prop repairman. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Local 798 Pipeliner's Union and a member of Hughes Chapel Methodist Church. Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marie Robinson; three sons, Michael Robinson and wife Karen, Scott Robinson and wife Marty, David Robinson and wife Cindy; three sisters, Katie Hart, Carolyn Joiner, Janice Wilkerson; brother, Stanley Robinson and eight grandchildren, Chris Robinson, Jeremy Robinson, Kata Jackson, Luke Cascio, Dylan Robinson, Logan Robinson, Matthew Robinson, Jessica Robinson and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jewel Robinson and Eunice Robinson Lowery. Serving as pallbearers are Jerry Freeland, Butch Freeland, Tommy Freeland, Acie Orr, Clarence "Buck" Harper and Andy Richards.
