A memorial service for Mr. Richard E. Burden, age 67, is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Edwards officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Burden, a resident of Mer Rouge, LA, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013. He was a former owner of Dixie Cleaners. Mr. Burden was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having obtained the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was a member of the Summerville Masonic Lodge #234 in Summerville, SC where he gained Master Mason status May 17, 1976. Mr. Burden will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He especially enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.
Mr. Burden is preceded in death by his parents, Forest and Geneva Burden; and siblings, Eugene Lee Burden, Gerald Bufess Burden, Mervin Noble Burden, Wilma Wynette Burden Williams, Velma Ruth Burden Patterson, and Billy C. Burden.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Burden; children, Brian Keith Burden and wife Kami, Richard Travis Burden and wife Angela, Billie Renee Johnson and husband Mike, Christopher Allen Parrott and wife Lynda, Thomas Michael Parrott and wife Jessica, J.R. Stroede and wife Sandy; thirteen grandchildren; four siblings, Jack Glenn Burden, Leslie Curtis Burden, Doris Marie Burden, Margie Jane Burden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
