Obituary of Alice Tharpe Spikes Hinton

Graveside services for Mrs. Alice Tharpe Spikes Hinton, age 83, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Springhill Cemetery in Swartz, LA with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Mrs. Hinton passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013. Mrs. Hinton was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. Mrs. Hinton was a beautician and instructor, and a caregiver. Mrs. Hinton is preceded in death by her first husband, Fales Spikes; her second husband, Edwin O. Hinton; parents, Gus Tharpe and Laura Annie Tharpe; daughter, Ester Johnson; grandson, Shaye Braddock; and sisters, Dorothy Middlebrooks and Darlene Hale. Mrs. Hinton is survived by a daughter, Annie Cook and husband Ken of Collinston, LA; a son, Charles Spikes and wife Linda of West Monroe, LA; a sister, Lodie Craig of Collinston, LA; grandkids, Elizabeth Hoskins and husband Jason of Collinston, LA, Bo Cook and wife Kelly of Collinston, LA, Wesley Spikes of West Monroe, LA, Britanny Spikes of Shreveport, LA; and great granddaughters, Scooter Spikes, Hannah Cook, Mackenzie Cook.
