Graveside services for Mrs. Marie Halbrook Scott, age 86, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Carter Cemetery on the Collinston Rd. in Bastrop with Dr. L. H. McCollough officiating. Visitation will be held at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop on Saturday at 10a.m. - 12 p.m. Mrs. Scott passed away on June 23, 2004, after a lengthy illness. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bastrop and was a homemaker and real estate agent. Although she had lived the last several years with her son and daughter-in-law in New Orleans, her love for her church, friends, and neighbors in Bastrop remained strong. Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her first husband William Lovell Halbrook, second husband Theron Scott, sister Mildred Barkley, and brother M.D. Powell. She is survived by a loving family of two sons, William Michael Halbrook and wife Teri of Shreveport, La, John Halbrook and wife Sandra of New Orleans, La; one step-daughter, Pat Campbell of Many, LA; two step-sons, Theron Wayne Scott of Bastrop and Ronald Scott of Many, La; one sister, Evie Murray of Calhoun, La; one brother, T.W. Powell, Jr. of West Monroe, La. Additionally, she leaves a loving host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Michael T. Halbrook, Wesley Lee Halbrook, Marvin Head, Jamie Murray, Robert Powell, and Theron Wayne Scott. Honorary pallbearer is her grandson, John Paul Halbrook, who is currently serving in the military in the service of his country in Afghanistan.
