Obituary of Flora Young Vandenberg

Funeral services for Mrs. Flora Young Vandenberg, age 94, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Bastrop with Dr. L.H. McCollough officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at First Baptist Church. Mrs. Vandenberg, a resident of Covington, LA, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013. She was a homemaker and a former resident of Bastrop, LA, and Memphis, TN. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Covington, LA. Mrs. Vandenberg is preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Vandenberg; three sisters, Maybelle Meachem, Camille Morris, Inez Magee; brother, Gaddis Young; and parents, George Thomas Young and Ida Young. She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Smith of Franklinton, LA; son, Tom Vandenberg of Calabasas, CA; six grandsons; two granddaughters; nine great grandsons; and five great granddaughters. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Covington Jackson Mission Fund. As Flora always said, "Don't forget Jesus loves you!"
