Obituary of Ernestine McKoin Crook

Funeral services for Mrs. Ernestine McKoin Crook, age 86, of Mer Rouge, LA are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Oak Ridge, LA with Rev. Terry Young officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Ernestine was born in McGinty, LA on May 25, 1926. She was a graduate of Bonita High School. She attended LSU in Baton Rouge, LA before marrying her loving husband, Louie Vernon Crook, Sr. on June 12, 1949; they were married 61 years. She worked as a devoted homemaker for her family for 64 years. She enjoyed cooking and canning; her pickles and pralines will be sorely missed. Ernestine was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and was an active member in the Pierian Club. She was also an avid fan of LSU and New Orleans Saints Football. Ernestine is survived by her children, Dr. Louie Vernon Crook, Jr. and wife Kathy and Dr. Daniel Estes Crook and Rhonda; grandchildren, William Bradley (Brad) Crook and wife Marguerite, Kristina Marie (Kristy) Crook, Laura Ashley Crook; brother, Marvin Lee McKoin; many, many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Ernestine is preceded in death by her parents, Polk Dallas McKoin, Sr and Bessie Belle Doles McKoin; husband, Louie Vernon Crook, Sr., sisters, Bessie Belle McKoin, Irene Berniece McKoin Borne, Mary Elizabeth (May) McKoin Dillon, Helen Rose McKoin Kovac, Lillian McKoin Cates; brothers, Preston Perry McKoin, Leslie Hubert McKoin, Polk Dallas McKoin, Jr., Cecil McKoin and grandson, Louie Vernon Crook III (Trey). Pallbearers will be; Brad Crook, Ken Kovac, Jack McKoin, Kelsey McKoin, Lee McKoin and Charles Wallace. Honorary pallbearers will be; Johnny Kovac, Jr., Scott McKoin, Steven McKoin, Dallas McKoin, Cliff Wallace, Carroll Dean Wallace and Keith David.
