Obituary of June McCowin

Funeral services for Mrs. June McCowin, age 78, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 PM Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with her nephew, Wilton Nolan officiating. Interment will follow in Mer Rouge Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 5 PM until 8 PM Friday at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. McCowin, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Oak Woods Home for the Elderly. She was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church. She loved growing flowers, gardening, cooking and sewing. Mrs. McCowin is survived by her daughters, Carolyn McCowin of Bastrop, LA, Cindy McKnight of Mer Rouge, LA; sons, Earl McCowin, Jr. of Bastrop, LA, Roy McCowin of Mer Rouge, LA; sisters, Claudia Evans of Swartz, LA, Jean Vickers of Rayville, LA, Margaret Viola of Picayune, MS, Sue Reddick of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Michael Tubbs and wife Lauren of Bastrop, LA, Brandon McCowin and wife Amber of Delhi, LA, Kayla Jordan of Bastrop, LA and Jason McCowin of San Diego, CA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl McCowin, Sr., her parents, Roy and Matilda Tillie, and a sister Joann Cupp. Serving as pallbearers are: Michael Tubbs, Brandon McCowin, Jason McCowin, James Williams, Brad Fife, and Milton Fife. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Reddick and Bub Welty. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Missy Rich, Deborah Matthews, Shelia Hall, Susan Musgrove, Kristin Burchfield, Dylan Hillard and the other staff of Oak Woods Home for the Elderly.
