Obituary of Ned W. Morris

Funeral services for Mr. Ned W. Morris, age 87, are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Ezra Cook and Rev. Raymond Avens officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Morris, a retired employee of International Paper Company, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013. He was a resident of Bastrop and a member of First Assembly of God Church. Mr. Morris was an avid fisherman, loved to hunt and work in the garden. He also enjoyed reading his Bible and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Vicki Morris; son, Dennis Morris and wife Charlotte of Texarkana, AR; two daughters, Linda DeShazo and Kathy Shields, both of Bastrop, LA; two sisters, Nan Bolton of Bastrop, LA, Florence Murphy of Pine Bluff, AR; brother-in-laws, Frank Torres and wife Lillian of Natchitoches, LA, Sylvester Torres and wife Gertrude of Ooltewah, TN; six grandchildren, Chris DeShazo and wife Tabatha of Sterlington, LA, Christy Clark of Frisco, TX, Tiffany Vidrine and husband Mitch of West Monroe, LA, Jason Grubbs of Bastrop, LA, Jacob Shields of Bastrop, LA, Trey Shields of Sterlington, LA; seventeen great grandchildren, Adam DeShazo and wife Heather, Lauren and Ashley Clark, Tyler Grubbs, Alana DeShazo, Drake and Jenna Vidrine, Emma and Sean Sanford, Kyle and Whitney McDuffie, Jason Jr. and Kayden Grubbs, Jacob Jr. and Karli Kay Shields, and Madisyn and Lauren Shields; one great great grandchild, Aiden DeShazo; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Morris is preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Harry Morris; brothers, William Morris, Leroy Morris; sister, Lucille Mercer; and a grandson, Shane Grubbs. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris DeShazo, Adam DeShazo, Jason Grubbs, Trey Shields, Jacob Shields, and Gary Harris.
