Graveside services for Mr. James Hicks, 79, of Nacogdoches will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 1:30 PM at Carter Cemetery in Bastrop, Louisiana with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Mr. Hicks was born on June 4, 1933, in Coushatta, Louisiana to the late Henry and Cora Weaver Hicks. He passed away on May 7, 2013, in Nacogdoches. James graduated high school from Provencal High School in Coushatta, Louisiana. He served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Alaska. He was self employed, having owned Parts Supply Company for over 25 years and retired in 1985. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed a lot of sporting events on T.V. He married his soul mate, Ollie Wharton, in December of 1956, and she preceded him in death on September 16, 2009. James is survived by his son, Mike Hicks and wife, Debra of Nacogdoches; granddaughter, Natalie Hicks of Houston; brothers, Charles Hicks and wife, Nettie of Shreveport and David Hicks and wife, Edna of Rocky Mount, LA; as well as a host of extended family and good friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; son, Jack Hicks and brothers, Henry Ray and John Hicks. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 209 Christie St., Lufkin, Texas 75904 or to the Alzheimer's Association, Nacogdoches Chapter, 2242 W. Holcomb, Houston, Texas 77030.
