Funeral services for Mr. Edward R. Burge, Jr., age 76, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 11 AM Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Golden Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Kirby Smith and Mrs. Linda Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 26, 2013 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Burge, a retired Foreman of Irby Construction Company, passed away at Glenwood Regional Medical Center. He was a charter member of Riverside Baptist Church in Bastrop, LA and was currently a member of Central Baptist Church in Byram, MS. Mr. Burge was an avid fisherman and hunter and he enjoyed life, and joking and picking with people. His grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley A. Burge; daughters, Connie Burge of Winnsboro, LA, Angie Harvey and husband Dan of Madison,WI; sons, Wayne Burge and wife Tiffany of Friendship, TN, Shane Burge and wife Shannon of Waskom,TX, Mike Allbritton and wife Marisa of Fischer,TX; sisters, Annie Belle Day of Bastrop, LA, Diane Halterman of Texarkana, TX; brothers, Andrew Burge and wife Mitzi of Sterlington, LA, Robert Burge of Monroe, LA; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; special friend, Cheryl Ramshur and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Burge is preceded in death by grandson, Michael Lane Allbritton; parents, Edward Burge, Sr. and Louise Diel Burge; brother, Lester Burge; sisters, Maxine Price and Flora Stanley. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Day, Kenneth Day, Steven Gregory, Andrew Fritchen, Tommy Braswell, and Kenneth Davidson.
