Obituary of Julia McCowin Wilson

Funeral services for Mrs. Julia McCowin Wilson, age 79, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Mer Rouge Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Wilson, a retired Dietary Aid, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013. She is preceded in death by two husbands, Wesley Walter McCowin and Billy G. Wilson; her parents, Charlie Cagle and Mae Williamson; step-daughter, Cheryl Wilson Carpenter; and step daughter-in-law, Margaret Wilson. She is survived by six children, Betty West of Hamburg, AR, Debbie Ritzell and husband Kerry of Bastrop, LA, Louise Davidson and husband Kenneth of Bastrop, LA, Margaret Hughes of Bastrop, LA, Wesley McCowin and wife Sandy of Cocoa, FL, Wanda Bennevendo and husband George of Frankston, TX; step-son, Roger Dale Wilson of TN; sister, Lois Freeman and husband Robert of Las Vegas, NV; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons: Cody Rogers, Jimmy Don Hughes, Michael Strange, Mark Goodman, Kenny Goodman, and Josh Goodman. Mrs. Wilson was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. She loved to fish and work in her flower beds. She also enjoyed crocheting and making bed spreads for friends. For the last few years she had been a resident of LeGrand Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. The family would like to thank the staff of LeGrand for the love and care that was provided for Mrs. Wilson.
