Obituary of Harlan Gene Laing

Funeral services for Mr. Harlan Gene Laing, age 71, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 10 AM Friday, June 21, 2013 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Britt Dupree officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Laing, a retired welder from Georgia Pacific, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He enjoyed competition shooting, collecting antiques, small trains and other collectables and he had a fondness for birds. He also served his country as a United States Navy Veteran working as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic on the USS Ranger CVA61. He is survived by his children, Regina Jordan and husband Stebo of Crossett, AR, Margaret Kinnaird and husband Jeremy of Bastrop, LA, Michael Laing and wife Beverly of Crossett, AR; sister, Diane McMullan and husband Billy of Bastrop, LA; brother, Joe Laing and wife Kathy of Bastrop, LA; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. Mr. Laing is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Perrault Laing; parents, L.E. and Pearl Laing and brother, Don Laing. Pallbearers will be Blake Laing, Rusty Jordan, Cody Kinnaird, Cole Kinnaird, Drew Laing, Brandon McDonald and Josh Laing. Honorary pallbearers will be Cory Halley, Paul McGowen, Todd Hicks and Jerry Huckabee. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 6 PM - 9 PM at Golden Funeral Home. The family would like to say a special thanks to Hospice Family Alliance, and Dr. Michael Hayward's office.
