Funeral Services for Truel Hodge Barnhill will be at 3:00 pm, Thursday, July 8, 2004, at Golden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Petrus and Rev. Bobby Dye officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Barnhill will be remembered by his family as kind, energetic, tireless and warm hearted. Mr. Barnhill was an avid gardner and seemed to be intent on feeding the world. He was retired from the Morehouse Police Jury Highway Department, and a member of Riverside Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army 3196th Signal Corp. Mr. Barnhill is survived by his wife, Mildred Russell Barnhill of Bastrop; daughter, Cathy Barnhill Osborn of West Monroe, LA; two sons, Jeffrey Barnhill of Bastrop, LA, Steven C. Barnhill and wife Heather of Bastrop, LA; two sisters, Pearl McIntyre of Long Beach, CA, Hovis Franks of Delhi, LA; brother, Wayne Barnhill and wife Mattie of Monroe, LA; four grandchildren, Marc Osborn, Brennan Osborn, Ty Barnhill and Rachel Barnhill and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Barnhill is preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Ettie Barnhill; sister, Zelma Barnhill Thames; two brothers, R.D. Barnhill and Troy Barnhill. Pallbearers will be Coleman Spann, Kenny Dye, Joe Dye, Glen Harper, David Rainbolt, G.W. Harris, and Stewart Cathey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Glen Dreher, Doyle Hindmon, Buddy Gilmore, Benny Barnhill, Harry Dye and Gene Dye. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 7, 2004 from 5 pm until 9 pm at Golden Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or Riverside Baptist Church.
