Funeral services for Mr. Travis Morgan Talley, age 76, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Father Ned Head officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Talley, a resident of Bastrop, LA and a medical technologist, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Mr. Talley is a member of Christ Episcopal Church, a member of Bussey Brake Bass Club and Louisiana Associational Bass Club. Mr. Talley was a United States Veteran serving in the Army. He graduated from Louisiana Tech with a degree in medical technology. He worked at Jefferson Hospital Laboratory in Pine Bluff, AR, Morehouse General Hospital Laboratory in Bastrop, LA, and St. Frances Medical Center Laboratory in Monroe, LA. Mr. Talley is preceded in death by his parents, Odie and Wilton Talley; baby sister, Alice Lynn Talley.
Mr. Talley is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Griffin Talley; brother,Thomas Glenn Talley and wife Glenda of Silver City, NM; brother-in-law Donald Griffin and wife Carolyn of Sterlington, LA; five nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews; one great great nephew; numerous cousins; and beloved golden retriever, Goldielocks.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Golden Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers are Frank Messinger, DeVon Hayes, Woodrow Kelly, Mike Hinton, Eugene Franklin, and Clark Bowen.
