Funeral services for Clifford V. "Tommy" Barker, age 83, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Annie Farmer Allen and Rev. David Oliver officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Goldens.
Bro. Barker, a retired minister of 62 years and resident of Collinston, passed away Monday, November 24, 2008. He was the caretaker of Carter Cemetery for 28 years. He was an avid gardner and enjoyed sharing his harvest with others.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Cathereane Barker; two sons, James Clifford Barker and Tommy Paul Barker; and sister, Lucille Essex; and his parents.
He is survived by daughter, Gloria Barker Bush & husband Roy of Marion, LA; daughter-in-law, Lisa Barker of Fairhope, LA; sister, Bobbie Veatch of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Dewayne Bush & wife Marcie of Gulfport, MS, Clay Bush & wife Deneen of Monroe, LA, Paul Thomas Barker of Alabama, Jennifer Price & husband Dusty of Pensacola, FL; and eight great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dewayne Bush, Clay Bush, James Turner, Carl Beinz, Ed Lebrun, and Nowayne Johnston. Jay Paul Johnston will serve as honorary pallbearer.
