Obituary of George E. "Pete" Mayo

Graveside funeral services for Mr. George E. "Pete" Mayo, age 78, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011 at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dale Jordan officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Mayo passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011. He was born and raised in the McGinty area and lived most of his life in Bonita and Bastrop. He was in the construction business and a heavy machinery operator. Mr. Mayo loved to train cutting horses and was a member of the Northeast LA Cutting Horse Chapter. He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha B. Mayo; parents, Phillip and Lillie Mae Mayo; brothers, Dan P. "Buck" Mayo, J.D. "Red" Mayo, W.N. "Norris" Mayo; sisters, Odell Gilbert, Bessie Hayman; nieces, Verlene Mayo White, Shirley Mayo Kelly; and nephew, George Alton Mayo. Mr. Mayo is survived by three daughters, Cindy Johnson and husband Bill of Bastrop, LA, Dee Dee Mangrum and husband Marty of Denham Springs, LA, Jamie Gentry of Bastrop, LA; two sons, Mike Sebren and wife Annelle of Brooks, GA, Tommy Mack Mayo of Bastrop, LA; sister, Dorothy Blackman of Bastrop, LA; brother, Mack Mayo and wife Virginia of Jacksonville, FL; eight grandchildren, Jason Mayo, Eric Jones, Jay Chapman II, Trey Owens, Lindzay Wilmore, Emily Anthony, Taylor Gentry, Mallory Mangrum; and ten great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Eric Jones, Jason Mayo, Jay Chapman II, Trey Owens, Bill Johnson, Marty Mangrum and Cheyenne Mayo.
