I first met Bro. Jimmie when my own father passed away. During the visitation, Bro. Jimmie came up and introduced himself to me and told me that he and my dad grew up together and that they had been childhood friends. It meant so much to me, and I only wished that I had known him before that time. In that precious time that we visited, he told me about some of his growing up experiences with my dad. We crossed paths on several occasions after that and visited. He touched my heart during a difficult time of grief, and I am eternally grateful. It is my sincere belief that Brother Jimmie is now walking on streets of gold and enjoying his blessed reward! Separation is temporary; we will meet again!

Cousins, I regret that I missed seeing all of you at visitation, and I will be unable to attend services. I know that this is a time of mixed emotions in that all suffering is over and Bro Jimmy how has a big, big mansion in heaven, but he will be missed here, too. He was the family historian, of sorts, and had many tales of days past. I expect most of those were actually true. I enjoyed hearing those stories. Be at peace, my friends and family. Mark

Dearest family, Bro. Jimmie was a 'treasure' to all of us and will be missed by those fortunate and blessed to have known him. He was a loyal Christian soldier who loved his God and his family. I know you're finding comfort in knowing that Bro. Jimmie is walking those streets of gold with his loved ones who have gone on before him, and above all, with our Lord Jesus Christ. Sunset in one land is Sunrise in another.....Much love and many prayers, Harriet and John

So many lives were touched by this man of God. When I think of him, I remember only smiles and happiness in his eyes. I know we will meet again on the other side of life. Love to the Herring family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Brother Jimmy when I worked with the Veterans Affairs Office there in Bastrop. Also he preached/filled-in when our preacher was out of town at the Mer Rouge Baptist Church. Brother Jimmy we will see you again when we all get to heaven. Praise God for Brother Jimmy!
