Obituary of Richard Lee Johnston

Funeral services for Mr. Richard Lee Johnston, 73, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2008 at Grace Baptist Church with Revs. Paul Carter and David Sistrunk officiating. Interment will follow in the Beekman Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday at the church. Mr. Johnston was born November 5, 1934 and passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2008 at Cherry Ridge Guest Care. He was employed with the Louisiana State Police for 32 years and the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Department for 13 years. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joycie Duplissey Johnston; two sons, Randy and wife Josie of Nunez, LA, Ricky and wife Amy of Monroe, LA; daughter, Melanie Richard and husband Francis of Carencro, LA; sister, Bobbie Manning of Houma, LA; two granddaughters, Heather-Brooke Moore and husband Eric of Sterlington, LA, McKenzie Richard of Carencro, LA; five grandsons, Beau Johnston of Monroe, LA, Nicholas Richard of Carencro, LA, Jordan Richard of Carencro, LA, Ryan Johnston of Nunez, LA, Keegan Johnston of Nunez, LA and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnston is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Verna Mae Johnston.
