Graveside services for Mrs. Alma G. Powell, age 83, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
Mrs. Powell, a retired J.C. Penny sales clerk, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013. She was a resident of Bastrop. Mrs. Powell enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and maintaining her beautiful yard. She will be remembered for the love she had for husband and her family.
Mrs. Powell is preceded in death by her son, Gary Powell; her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James "Jim" A. Powell of Bastrop, LA; daughter, Carol "Sissy" Gilly and husband David of Bastrop, LA; sister, Corine Powell of Pine Bluff, AR; two brothers, J.D. Grice and wife Virginia of Parkdale, AR, Sammy Grice and wife Eleanor of Vermont; three grandchildren, Tracy Powell and wife Denise of Monroe, LA, Carol Perry and husband Benjy of Bastrop, LA, Grayson Powell and fiance` Morgan Waller of Bastrop, LA; four great grandchildren, Cole Perry, Hunter Perry, Luke Powell, Ellamee Powell and numerous nieces and nephews.
