Obituary of I. V. Barthol, Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. I. V. Barthol, Sr., age 91, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Jones, LA. Mr. Barthol, Sr., a resident of Jones, LA, and a retired farmer and an employee of Georgia Pacific Forestry, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Mr. Barthol was a member of Bonita Full Gospel Church of God. He loved cotton farming, gardening, hunting, whittling, and wood crafts. He was a United States Army Veteran in World War II, serving in the South Pacific as a paratrooper, where he received the Bronze Star. Mr. Barthol is preceded in death by his wife, Marion Louise Crenshaw Barthol; parents, Ivan and Alder Barthol; daughter, Linda Gayle Lewis; brother, Ira Lee "Jack" Barthol, and sister, Annie Mae Barthol. Mr. Barthol is survived by his daughter, Zela Talley and husband Hunter of Bastrop, LA; three sons, I.V. Barthol, Jr. and wife Diane of Bastrop, LA, Gerald Barthol and wife Sue of Bastrop, LA, Lee Barthol and wife Jeannie of Bastrop, LA; ten grandchildren, Phillip Lynn Hall, Steven Eppinette, Kristina Barthol, Secret West, Serena Lowrey, Christopher Lee Barthol, Ashley Barthol, David Barthol, Emily Myrick, Carrie Williams; sixteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Crenshaw of Jones, LA, Iva Nell Harris and husband Donald of Wilmot, AR; and three brothers, Laurie Barthol and wife Clara Lee of Jones, LA, Robert Earl Barthol of Hamburg, AR, Billy Merle Barthol and wife Theresa. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Scroggins, Christopher Barthol, Owens West, Bobby Mayo, Jr, Joe Mayo, and David Barthol. Honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Mayo, Sr.
