Obituary of Courtney A. Day

Funeral services for Mr. Courtney A. Day, age 75, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Greenacres Baptist Church,6370 Mer Rouge Rd.,Bastrop, LA, with Rev. Tony Campanale officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Day, a resident of Bastrop and retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014. Mr. Day was a loving husband, father, and papaw. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed watching football and westerns on T.V. He also loved watching and feeding his hummingbirds, and squirrels. Mr. Day is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Day and Arnita Jones; son, William Earl Day; brother, Charles T. Jones; uncle and aunt, Robbin E. and Lottie Carpenter; aunt, Virginia Ione Dunn; and half-sister, Sally Day. Mr. Day is survived by his wife, Lena Day; two daughters, Samalee Allen and husband Terry of Nashville, TN, Melinda Day Wilson of McDonough, GA; step-daughter, Glenda Silmon and husband Michael of Bastrop, LA; two step-sons, Bobby Mayo, Jr. and wife Sharon of Jones, LA, Joseph C. Mayo and wife Tina of Bastrop, LA; sister, Betty Crisostomo of Columbia, SC; two half-sisters, Jackie Gray of McComb, MS, Karen Boyd of Bastrop, LA; two brothers, David L. Day and wife Georgia A. of Bastrop, LA, Danny Clay Jones of Columbia, SC; eleven grandchildren, Trisha Harper, Brandon Mayo, Blake Mayo, Britney Travis, Justin Eubanks, William "Andy" Day, Dane Allen, Courtney Michelle Eubanks, Jamie Travis, Rusty Travis, Delaney Mayo; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Eubanks, Kevin Day, Blake Mayo, Rusty Travis, Kevin Harper, and Brandon Mayo. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Patterson and William Anderson Day.
