Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Mixon Martin, age 92, will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the Golden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kyle Peters officiating. The family will receive friends just prior the service beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery. Ethel, a longtime resident of Bastrop, died peacefully on February 5, 2015 at Morehouse General Hospital. She was a devoted wife and mother and a dedicated member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Frank Martin; two sons, David Eugene Martin and John Calvin Martin; parents, John and Ruby Mixon and a sister Clara Jean Barille. Mrs. Martin is survived by her son, B.F. “Ben” Martin and wife Cindy of Monroe, LA; daughter-in-law, Becky Fontenot and husband Mike of Sulphur, LA; two sisters, Johnny Kinnaird of Bastrop, LA, Laverne McDougald and husband Bo of Sulphur, LA; brother-in-law, Billy Keys of Lafayette, LA; three grandchildren, David Martin and wife Tiffany of Sulphur, LA, Jack Bradley and wife Dena of Princeton, NJ, Krista Pearson of Pineville, LA; four great grandchildren, John David Martin, Hannah Bradley, Caleb Pearson, Alysa Pearson and several nieces and nephews. Memorial may be made to the Cherry Ridge Baptist Church General Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
