Memorial services for Mrs. Helen Trippe Landress, age 89, of Bastrop, LA, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Christ Episcopal Church in Bastrop. A time of fellowship with the family will follow the service in the Church Parish House. Interment will be in the Old Spring Hill Cemetery in Old Spring Hill, Alabama. Mrs. Landress, a retired clerk at Golden Flowers and Gifts, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015. She was born December 5, 1925, in Old Spring Hill, Alabama. Helen graduated with a fine arts degree from Auburn University in 1947 and was a charter member of the Phi Mu Sorority at Auburn. She was a longtime member of Christ Episcopal Church and extremely active in the Altar Guild, as well as supporting the church’s Thrift Shop. Her artistic talents were nurtured as a member of the Clarklea Garden Club. She was also a long time member of the Coterie Study Club and the Abram Morehouse chapter of the DAR. Helen is survived by her daughter, Nancy Landress Witherington and husband Carlton of Highland Village, TX; son, David Landress and wife Gabriela of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Jennifer Witherington of Dallas, TX, Emily Lawless and husband Michael of Lantana, TX, Ross Witherington of Denton, TX; and great granddaughter, Jamison Ortiz of Lantana, TX, as well as her brother, Edwin Trippe, of Marietta, GA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Helen Trippe. Memorials in her remembrance should be made to Christ Episcopal Church in Bastrop, LA.
