Obituary of Alice McCollough Clark

Please share a memory of Alice McCollough to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alice McCollough Clark went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, surrounded by her family and friends at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, Louisiana. A Celebration of Her Life funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19, at 10:00 am at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop, LA with her Grandson, Rev. Jason Murphy, Pastor of First Assembly (Collierville, Tennessee) officiating. Assisting him will be Rev. John Skinner, Pastor of Rayville First Assembly. Interment will follow at Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, from 6-8 at Golden's. Alice was one of God's mighty prayer warriors, loved by all who knew her. No matter what the problem was, or how big or how small, as soon as she learned of it she would say, "I'll just pray about it." And she did just that. She knew the power of prayer and we felt it in our lives as time after time those prayers were answered. She had a servant's heart. Her thoughts and concerns were always for someone else, never herself. She was always taking care of someone else's needs, seeking some way she could help. But she never wanted to call attention to herself, choosing always to stay in the background. She had a heart for others and saw people for who they were on the inside. One of the many talents God blessed her with was an amazing cooking ability, and her family and friends delighted in all the times spent gathered around her table. She was the heart of her family, drawing us all to her with her selfless, loving ways. She loved each one of us unconditionally. All of her family loved going to 'NanaBaby's', as she was affectionately called. She was our confidante, always ready to listen to us and offer encouragement. There was nothing we thought she could not do. She was the heart and glue of our family, always humble and appreciative. A faithful church member for many years until her health declined, she was a member of Rayville First Assembly where her grandson once pastored, a church she loved dearly and often spoke of how much she loved 'all the people' there, and who in return, showed their love and concern for her. She understood that life is really about the people we touch and the relationships we form and she touched lives even from her home, as many of her health care workers would tell us, and she forged friendships that will last forever simply because of who she was and what she represented. Her family was her life. She and our Daddy left us a legacy of love and devotion and commitment that will live forever in our hearts and minds. Alice McCollough Clark was born August 23, 1926 in Bogalusa, La and was preceded in death by her beloved husband and grandson, Marion Clark and Colby Whetstone, parents JL and Nora McCollough, brothers and sisters-in-law, Quinn and Charlene McCollough, and C.L. Jr. and Mary Clark. The void in the lives of the loved ones she left behind will be great, but left to cherish, honor, and celebrate her memory are her daughters and 'sons', Judi and Dell Murphy, Lynn and Stan Schoen; granddaughters and grandsons, Donna and Larkin Whetstone, Patrick and Allison Harrell, Shon Murphy, Jason and Kelly Murphy, Derek Schoen, Dara and Randy Rhew; Great Grandchildren, Ryan Whetstone, Micah Whetstone, Caden and Ashley Whetstone, Brayden, Nolan and Adam Rhew, Kelsey, Josiah, Kylah and Moriah Murphy and great great grandchildren, MaKenna, Baylen, and Camden Whetstone; a special nephew, David Clark. Pallbearers will be grandsons, grandsons-in-law and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are David Clark, Edgar Hodges and Henry Harris. The family wants to give a special thanks for the wonderful care given to her by Good Shepherd and especially Nina Pates and Vallie Battle who were with her for 8 years and have become part of our family. .... We'll visit again in Heaven, NanaBaby, Granddaddy and Colby !OBO! We know there is a celebration going on there now!
