Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Bertie Mavis James Lowery are scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. George Wortham officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Golden Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lowery, a retired assistant tax assessor for Morehouse Parish and member of North Monroe Baptist Church passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at St. Francis Medical Center after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. She was a former member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church and worked with the tax assessor's office for 37 years.
Mrs. Lowery is preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Lowery; son-in-law, Frank L. Hefner; parents, Robert Lee James and Fannie Rae Watts (James) Meredith; sister, Rosalie Liles; brothers, Bennie L. James, Jessie F. James, William Martin James and Gaston James.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana L. Hefner; grandson, Robert L. Hefner; great granddaughter, Nisah Hefner and numerous nieces and nephews.
